Are you an experienced physician in Diabetes and Endocrinology looking for new career development opportunities? This role offers specialist‑led inpatient and outpatient Diabetes and Endocrine services across multiple sites of the North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist diabetes and endocrine services, including ward referrals and support for trained Diabetes Support Nurses (DSNs).
  • Accountable for the continuous care of in‑patients and out‑patients, sharing out‑of‑hours general medical on‑call rota arrangements.
  • Work as part of the multidisciplinary Trust‑wide Diabetes network, attending Clinical Governance and Multidisciplinary Team meetings at Trust and external provider sites.
  • Contribute to teaching of medical students, trainee advanced care practitioners, specialist nurses and participate in weekly postgraduate meetings.
  • Engage in audit, governance, morbidity and mortality and training meetings.

Qualifications

  • MBChB/MBBS or equivalent, MRCP entry on the GMC Specialist Register for Diabetes & Endocrinology/General Internal Medicine
  • Completion of CCT (or equivalent) within 6 months of interview, or already CCT holder
  • Excellent communication skills with staff, patients, families and General Practitioners
  • Evidence of multidisciplinary work and involvement in service development and planning
  • Knowledge of NHS Trust structure, NHS plan and clinical governance
  • Specific training in communication, teaching and management (courses or practical experience)
  • Demonstrated implementation of new working patterns and methods

Location & Working Pattern

The role is based at Hinchingbrooke Hospital, with expected cross‑site working at acute hospital sites and clinics. Flexibility is valued; part‑time and job‑share requests may be considered.
