An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Associate Mental Health Practitioner within our Community CAMHS Service. This role is ideal for a newly qualified Nurse or AHP who works with children and young people presenting a wide range of emotional and mental health difficulties.
Responsibilities
- Provide mental health assessments and formulate care plans.
- Build therapeutic relationships with children and young people and deliver evidence‑based interventions, including group treatment.
- Use Routine Outcome Measures to monitor progress and inform partnership working, which is goal‑specific.
- Maintain lead professional duties for an agreed caseload.
- Liaise with and consult other agencies as part of a multi‑agency framework.
- Participate in duty rota intra‑ or inter‑team enquiries.
- Contribute to positive team functioning within the Community CAMHS South team.
- Work with senior staff to enhance access to mental health services for children and young people.
- Support professional consultation and training for universal service professionals.
- Promote the safety and welfare of service‑users and their families and support agreed discharge plans.
- Maintain a professional attitude and represent the wider CAMHS service.
- Adhere to current legislation and guidance governing the delivery of children’s services.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse, Diploma in Social Work or equivalent social work qualification (CSS, CQSW, degree in social work).
- Allied Health Professional registered with HCPC and accredited by a HCPC recognised body (e.g. UKCP, BACP).
- Teaching qualification or equivalent skills in working with children, young people and families.
- Evidence of additional training and continuing professional development in a multi‑agency context.
- Knowledge of evidence‑based interventions for children and families.
- Effective communication skills and proficiency in basic IT.
- Ability to work flexibly to meet service need and travel with a motor vehicle as required.
Other Information
- Substantive working hours: primarily 9–5, Monday to Friday.
- Based in the Community CAMHS South team with flexibility considered.
