Are you looking for a role that is transformative, meaningful and professionally stretching? We are seeking a proactive, compassionate SLT to help shape a developing service for adults with complex communication and swallowing needs within the acute mental health setting at Hafan y Coed, University Hospital Llandough. The service is growing and you will play a central role in establishing SLT as an essential part of the multidisciplinary team. Your curiosity, person‑centred approach, creativity and collaborative spirit will be valued more than extensive mental‑health experience.
The supportive SLT team offers full supervision, CPD, shadowing and ongoing guidance to develop clinicians in new specialist areas. You will provide specialist assessment and intervention, support MDT decision‑making and capacity assessments, train and empower ward staff, shape pathways and advocate for patients whose needs may otherwise go unnoticed. You will join a motivated, development‑focused team with strong leadership, opportunities to innovate and access to specialist networks and supervision. Whether you are an experienced Band 7 or a Band 6 ready to progress, we would love to hear from you.
Main Duties of the Job
- Work effectively with the full multidisciplinary team to promote the development, planning and delivery of intervention programmes.
- Provide advice, guidance and training to other professionals, including SLTs, in the specialist clinical area.
- Undertake best‑practice projects, complex audits and research initiatives.
- Provide clinical supervision/mentoring for more junior SLTs and assistants.
Speak Welsh is desirable; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

- Significant experience of working with a range of communication/swallowing problems.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience teaching/training speech.
