Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced and motivated

HCPC registered podiatrist to join our Community Podiatry Service as a Highly specialist Podiatrist covering the West Lancashire patch on a 9‑month fixed‑term basis.

This role is ideal for someone passionate about leading high‑quality community podiatry services and supporting teams to deliver safe, effective and person‑centred care across a range of community settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver and lead the clinical podiatry service within the defined area, ensuring efficient, effective, well‑coordinated and responsive care with quality and patient experience at the centre.
  • Provide visible and autonomous clinical leadership, including triage, assessment, diagnosis, and development of highly specialist programmes of care for complex patients.
  • Lead and supervise the Podiatry Team, managing caseloads, performance, and training, and oversee staff and student supervision.
  • Drive workforce and service innovation, manage change processes, and implement new working practices in partnership with patients, local authority, and third‑sector partners.
  • Ensure financial and physical resource stewardship, including stock control, budgeting, and managing service delivery costs.
  • Maintain high‑level clinical competence, including prescribing where applicable, and administer medicines in line with trust policies and NMC guidelines.
  • Lead continuous professional development for own and staff, deliver training, supervise, and participate in audit, research, and evidence‑based projects.
  • Uphold clinical governance, benchmarking against national standards, lead quality assurance, and manage risk minimisation.
  • Communicate complex clinical information to patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams, ensuring informed consent, accurate documentation, and inclusive decision‑making.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree or equivalent in Podiatric Medicine; Master’s degree, postgraduate qualification, or equivalent knowledge at Master’s level.
  • Up to date HCPC Registration.
  • Evidence of up‑to‑date CPD portfolio.
  • Prescription training (POM‑A / LA certificate).
  • Relevant short postgraduate specialist courses, assess/mentor training, and supplementary medical prescribing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organisational and time‑management skills.
  • Ability to prioritise own caseload, work flexibly across the MCFT footprint, including 7‑day working and evening clinics as required.
  • Fitness to carry out duties under reasonable adjustments (DDA 1995) and manage work under pressure with frequent changes.
  • Demonstrated expertise in podiatry, supervision of staff and students, change management, audit, and research.
  • Commitment to evidence‑based practice, service development, and innovation.
  • Understanding of shared decision making, relevant legislation, policies, and clinical guidelines.
