Job Overview

We are seeking a part‑time Facilities Assistant (cleaner) at Amberstone Hospital, Carter's Corner, Hailsham, East Sussex, BN27 4HY.

This part‑time position totals 25 hours per week – 3.5 hours Monday to Friday evenings and 7.5 hours Friday morning.

The ideal candidate is approachable, flexible, reliable, able to work unsupervised, and wishes to make a positive difference to the experience of people in our care.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver and achieve high standards of environmental cleaning and prepare meals for service.
  • Maintain a clean environment and food safety, adhering to infection prevention and control standards at all times.
  • Perform routine cleaning tasks including vacuuming, damp mopping of floors, damp dusting of furniture/fittings, cleaning mirrors and internal glass, and wiping sanitary ware such as baths, showers, sinks and toilets.
  • Wash tiled surfaces and paintwork, high dusting of walls and ceilings, and overall floor cleaning.
  • Prepare hot food for the evening meal service for patients.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience using cleaning equipment and lived experience in mental health or NHS settings.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with a range of people.
  • Demonstrated grasp of functional skills in Maths and English.
  • Fully vaccinated against COVID‑19.
  • Training & Support

Full training will be provided for the successful candidate.
