This is a kitchen assistant role at a care home in Gloucestershire. We support the chef in creating healthy and balanced meals, maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, and provide support and engagement to residents.
Responsibilities
- Support the chef in preparing healthy and balanced meals and snacks, and ensure an understanding of dietary requirements and allergens.
- Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, in accordance with COSHH regulations and health-and-safety protocols.
- Work effectively as part of a team, and work independently when required while managing time efficiently.
- Offer support, communication, and engagement to residents.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum of 12 months' right to work in the UK.
- Previous experience in a kitchen setting is essential; chef or cooking experience preferred.
- Flexible to work nights, days and weekends (bank role).
- Must be able to drive or live close to the care home.
- Prior knowledge of food safety and COSHH is desirable.
- Strong communication skills, empathy, and a caring attitude.
