Are you a qualified chef who loves fresh, seasonal food and wants a better work‑life balance?
This casual, part‑time Bank Chef role at Barchester offers flexible working and the chance to deliver restaurant‑standard meals without split shifts or long weeks.
You will assist the Head Chef in creating nutritious, flavoursome and well‑balanced menus, tailoring them to residents’ needs while upholding person‑centred hospitality across all our homes and hospitals.
Responsibilities
- Help manage the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence.
- Work fresh produce to deliver high‑quality, wholesome dishes at the highest standards.
- Create a warm, efficient, and fun working environment.
- Operate within budget, complete regular audits and manage stock control.
- Assist in leading and motivating a team and support the wellbeing of residents.
- Collaborate with the Head Chef to design nutritious menus that meet residents’ dietary requirements.
Qualifications
- Hold City & Guilds, NVQ or SVQ certification (or equivalent).
- Experience in leading and inspiring a kitchen team.
- Good understanding of nutrition and HACCP.
- Proven experience working with fresh, seasonal food.
- Ability to create a warm and welcoming environment within a care setting.
