We are seeking to recruit a full‑time Facilities Assistant (cleaner) to join our team at the Department of Psychiatry, Kings Drive, Eastbourne, East Sussex, BN21 2UD.
A new hospital in Bexhill will replace our inpatient services at the Department of Psychiatry.
This means that, if you are successful in your application, you will transfer to the new location when they open later in 2026.
This is a full‑time position totalling 37.5 hours per week, working 7.5 hours per day on each Monday to Friday mornings.
There is some scope for flexibility in the hours agreed with the successful candidate.

Responsibilities
- Vacuum cleaning, damp mopping of floors, damp dusting of furniture/fittings, cleaning of mirrors and internal glass, sanitary ware, e. g. baths, showers, sinks, toilets, washing of tiled surfaces and paintwork, high dusting of walls and ceilings, floor cleaning etc.
- Prepare meals for service.
- Support the provision of the meal service for patients in our care.
Qualifications
- Self‑motivated, able to work independently or as part of a team, able to deliver high standards of environmental cleaning.
- Knowledge of infection prevention and control standards and food safety at all times.
- Experience with cleaning equipment; lived experience of mental health / worked for NHS.
- Good interpersonal skills, able to communicate with a range of people, demonstrate grasp of functional skills in Maths & English.
- Fully vaccinated against COVID‑19 is encouraged.
Full training will be provided for the successful candidate.
