Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and forward‑thinking Consultant Gynaecologist to join the East Gynaecology Unit at the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive and progressive department committed to delivering high‑quality, patient‑centred gynaecological care. The successful candidate will play a key role in strengthening the resilience of the East Gynaecology service while contributing to the ongoing development of outpatient, diagnostic and elective gynaecology services.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the East Gynaecology on‑call rota (currently 1:8).
  • Deliver elective benign gynaecology outpatient clinics and operating lists.
  • Contribute to colposcopy and urgent suspected cancer (USC) services.
  • Support the Emergency Gynaecology Unit.
  • Participate in the Gynaecological Oncology MDT and work collaboratively with the Gynaecological Oncology team to support patient pathways.
  • Contribute to service development projects aligned with Trust priorities, including improving outpatient capacity, diagnostic pathways and service resilience.
  • Participate in teaching, educational supervision, audit, research and clinical governance activities.

Qualifications

  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register for Obstetrics and Gynaecology (or within six months of CCT at the time of interview).
  • MRCOG or equivalent qualification.
  • Evidence of clinical competence and experience in benign gynaecology.
  • Experience in outpatient gynaecology and elective benign gynaecology surgery.
  • Desirable: BSCCP Accreditation (or equivalent experience in colposcopy).
  • Experience contributing to urgent suspected cancer (USC) pathways.
  • Experience supporting gynaecological oncology services.
  • Evidence of service development, quality improvement and multidisciplinary working.
