We are seeking a dynamic and highly experienced Emergency Nurse to join our senior leadership team as a Matron, working in close partnership with our existing Matron to provide visible, compassionate and effective leadership across the Emergency Department.
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual with a proven track record in Urgent and Emergency Care to influence service delivery, drive quality improvement and support the large nursing workforce.
Working collaboratively you will share responsibility for operational performance, staff wellbeing and strategic initiatives by ensuring the delivery of responsive, patient‑centred care within a fast‑paced and demanding environment.
To lead, develop and co‑ordinate a multi‑disciplinary team to ensure consistent safe and effective patient care is delivered within the available resources.
Taking twenty‑four‑hour responsibility for the department every day.
Ensuring a visible presence across a full range of clinical shifts; role modelling professional standards and being accessible to patients, visitors and staff at all times.
To ensure compliance with legislation and local policies on health and safety, infection prevention and control and environmental risk assessment for the department; thereby leading the department team in the prevention of healthcare associated infection and managing risks in the practice environment that affect patient safety.
To lead by example, working with patients and their families to assess their needs, developing and evaluating individualised plans of care.
To manage a team of staff from recruitment and selection through day to day management in line with all Human Resources (HR) policies and procedures.
To be accountable for the oversight of all aspects of quality governance, risk management and safety for the department.

Qualifications
- Registered nurse, midwife or Allied Health Proffesional (Included on NMC register or HCPC register) with ability to apply proffesional codes of conduct.
- Education to Master’s degree level or equivalent experience in health care.
- Achievement of a programme of teaching, assessing and mentoring skills.
- Evidenc‑e of continuing personal professional development.
- Prior experience leading a team or a service.
- Experience introducing change to improve practice.
- Experience of working in acute services.
- Experience in recruitment, retention and selection processes.
- Experience of contributing to integrated care initiatives.
- Ward or department management experience.
