Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated person to join our dynamic and friendly inpatient Orthopaedic therapy teams as a Therapy Assistant based at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

This role is part of DBTH’s commitment to enhancing emergency pathways and progressing elective restoration work, with a goal of becoming one of the country’s top performing trusts.

As a Therapy Assistant, you will gain valuable experience and have access to various apprenticeship routes that can develop into careers in our therapy professions.

Our Therapy Assistant staff are highly valued members of the team, helping to provide quality care to patients.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan and provide Therapy intervention for patients in an Orthopaedic inpatient setting.
  • Work within agreed guidelines, protocols and competencies.
  • Assist in the delivery and organisation of Therapy services within the specialty.
  • Undertake specific clinical responsibilities or quality improvement projects supporting overall therapy service delivery.
  • Work independently with some patients as the first contact from the Orthopaedic Therapy Team.
  • Document within patient records and maintain accurate computer records.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, understanding patients’ needs and motivating them throughout their journey.
  • Work flexibly over 7 days and effectively prioritise and manage your own caseload.

Qualifications

  • 2 GCSEs or equivalent, including English language
  • Experience equivalent to the attainment of a level 3 qualification
  • Significant experience in health‑related work
  • Broad therapy experience/experience in a therapy setting
  • Experience of working as part of a multi‑disciplinary team
  • Ability to work flexibly, over 7 days
  • Effective time‑management skills
