Role Overview Deputy Head of Estates – leadership positions at Cheltenham General Hospital and Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant delivery of Estates services across each hospital site.

Will report to the Deputy Associate Director of Estates – Head of Estates and provide operational leadership across planned and reactive maintenance, engineering systems, compliance activities, and workforce management.

Key Responsibilities Lead and manage Estates operational services, including planned preventive maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance and engineering services.

Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, healthcare technical standards, health and safety legislation, and contractual obligations.

Monitor service performance, manage operational risks, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Support Authorised Persons arrangements and ensure engineering systems are managed safely and effectively.

Manage workforce performance, development, resource planning and employee relations matters.

Monitor contractor and supplier performance to ensure service standards are achieved.

Support the delivery of capital and infrastructure projects while maintaining operational service continuity.

Contribute to governance, assurance, business planning and budget management processes.

Deputise for the Deputy Associate Director of Estates – Head of Estates as required.

Qualifications Degree level qualification or equivalent experience in Engineering, Building Services, Estates Management or a related discipline.

Post‑graduate management qualification or equivalent leadership experience.

Experience managing maintenance, engineering or technical services within a complex operational environment.

Significant experience managing Estates, Engineering or Facilities Management services.

Leadership and performance management experience.

Experience implementing service improvement or change initiatives.

Experience within healthcare, public‑sector or similarly regulated environments.

Knowledge of statutory compliance requirements and health and safety legislation.

Knowledge of healthcare technical standards and engineering compliance requirements.

Strong leadership and people management skills.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Familiarity with Estates management systems and performance reporting tools. #J-18808-Ljbffr
