Position Overview
The Denmead Practice is an established general practice located in Denmead, Hampshire.
We employ a multidisciplinary team including GPs, nurses, pharmacists, allied health professionals and other support staff.
We are seeking a salaried GP or partner to join our team.
The role involves 4 sessions over a 3‑day week: Tuesday AM, Wednesday all day, Friday PM.
Salary is competitive and will be determined by experience.
Informal visits to the practice are welcome.
- Clinical Responsibilities
- Provide full range of NHS general medical services to registered patients.
- Conduct face‑to‑face, telephone and online consultations.
- Diagnose and manage acute and chronic illnesses, prescribe safely per national and local guidelines.
- Make appropriate referrals to secondary care and community services.
- Manage home visits where clinically appropriate.
- Maintain accurate and contemporaneous clinical records using the practice clinical system.
- Participate in safeguarding procedures for vulnerable adults and children.
- Support continuity of care and patient‑centred decision making.
- Work closely with the dispensary team to promote safe and cost‑effective prescribing, support medicines optimisation and manage dispensary‑related clinical queries.
- Collaborate with GP partners, nursing staff, pharmacists, administrative staff and allied health professionals.
- Attend clinical meetings, significant event reviews, practice audits and contribute to quality improvement activities and QOF targets.
- Support training and mentoring of medical students, GP registrars or other learners where appropriate.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of practice policies and procedures.
- Administrative Responsibilities
- Complete clinical correspondence, reports and referrals in a timely manner.
- Process pathology and radiology results efficiently.
- Maintain compliance with GMC standards and NHS contractual requirements.
- Participate in practice meetings and mandatory training as required.
- Additional Duties
- Cover one duty session per week.
- Use the buddy system to cover nominated GP pathology and urgent admin during leave, and vice versa.
- Assume responsibility for visiting housebound patients when necessary.
- Adhere to policies and procedures and provide guidance to the practice team as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Fully qualified GP with GMC registration and licence to practise.
- Included on the NHS Performers List.
- MRCGP qualification (or equivalent).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to high‑quality patient care.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Good organisational and IT skills.
- Previous experience working in a dispensing practice.
- Interest in community healthcare, teaching, training or clinical leadership.
- Special clinical interests that complement existing practice services.
