Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry – Interventions
Join the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board as a Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry – Interventions. The role involves working 8 sessions per week within the interventions and urgent response to SPoA / Assessment teams.
Applicants should be on the Specialist Register or be a Specialist Registrar within six months of their expected CCT.
Salary: £88,192 – £128,760 per annum for an 8‑session commitment.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide medical psychiatric assessment and intervention to patients in the EWMH Care Group.
- Develop urgent response for the SPOA/Assessment team and deliver core interventions under Part 2 of the Mental Health Measure.
- Participate in the regional out‑of‑hours psychiatry rota supporting Crisis teams.
- Contribute to transformation & growth of services, including crisis team extension and Intensive Home Treatment Service.
- Engage in research and teaching in collaboration with Cardiff University’s School of Medicine.
Qualifications & requirements:
- Specialist Register or Specialist Registrar within six months of expected CCT.
- At least 3 years of employment/training history with referees. If currently or recently a substantive or locum Consultant for >12 months, provide Medical Director as an additional referee.
- Ability to deliver urgent responses, part‑time and full‑time clinical sessions.
- Commitment to academic interests, research and teaching.
Appointments include an excellent Consultant contract for Wales and support across six hospital sites, serving over 500,000 people in Cardiff and the Vale.
