As a Specialist Clinical Coder, you will:

  • Accurately abstract, analyse, and assign complex diagnostic and procedural codes using ICD-10 and OPCS-4 classifications
  • Work closely with clinical teams to validate and enhance the quality of coded data
  • Take the lead on specific specialties and complex coding scenarios
  • Act as a mentor to junior coders and support their development
  • Contribute to clinical engagement, KPI monitoring, audit preparation and data quality improvement, Our team is comprised of skilled and dedicated professionals who are committed to delivering high-quality work within demanding time frames. We work closely with clinicians, medical secretaries, and other staff to ensure that all relevant information is captured and coded accurately.

    Substantial Clinical Coding expertise across all specialties and levels of complexity

  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology, Ability to analyse and abstract complex records
  • Ability to resolve complex coding issues and aptly articulate resolutions
  • Able to identify data quality issues and coding workflow impediments and use sound intuition to resolve

We are seeking oneexperienced and motivated Specialist Clinical Coder to join our dynamic Clinical Coding Department at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. We are responsible for accurately translating patient information into codes that are used for billing, research, and planning purposes. Our work directly impacts the Trust's ability to recover income and plan services effectively.
