Job Overview
This post sits within a supportive, skilled and committed adolescent team.
You will join two clinical psychologists within a full multidisciplinary team that provides high quality, evidence‑based assessment and treatment.
You will have the opportunity to develop your CBT skills with regular supervision from the consultant psychologist in the team and to work systemically with our systemic therapists.
You will be responsible for your own clinical caseload and be involved in assessments, care planning and interventions for children and adolescents with support from the multidisciplinary team.
The Adolescent Team is dynamic and supportive, providing assessments and evidence‑based therapies to children and young people with complex mental health difficulties such as depression, emerging psychosis, OCD, PTSD and social anxiety.
It has close links with Youth Offending Services, an Assertive Outreach Team, various national and specialist services, and partners in social care, education and the local third sector.
Responsibilities
- Provide specialist psychology service to Southwark Adolescent Service, including assessment, treatment, planning, implementation and monitoring of outcomes.
- Contribute to enabling staff, service users and carers from diverse backgrounds to flourish by creating a psychologically safe environment.
- Provide clinical supervision and consultation as appropriate.
- Undertake service evaluation, audit and research as needed.
- Engage in joint working with a range of professionals within the team and across the service, and deliver teaching and group work.
- Assist in research and service development projects and maintain regular CPD opportunities.
Qualifications and Experience
- Entry‑level qualification in Applied Psychology (professional Doctorate, or MSc plus PG Diploma/level additional training) accepted by the HCPC for professional registration.
- Registered with the HCPC as a Practitioner Psychologist.
- Experience of receiving clinical supervision across a range of client needs.
- Experience of psychological assessment and evidence‑based treatment of adolescents with complex psychological needs.
- Experience supporting and addressing diversity within local communities, gained through work, research, volunteering and/or lived experience.
- Experience of developing and carrying out research projects.
- Theoretical knowledge of psychopathology and the evidence base for treatment of adolescents with complex mental health difficulties.
- Knowledge of psychological assessment, clinical psychometrics, and relevant legislation relating to children, young people, mental health, child and adult protection and equalities.
- Doctoral level knowledge of psychological research methodology and complex statistical analysis.
- Ability to deliver psychological therapy across cultural and other differences, select and administer specialist psychological assessments, interpret and integrate complex data, and communicate sensitivly with clients, carers and colleagues.
