Paediatric Clinical Research Nurse in City of Westminster

We currently have a vacancy for a Paediatric Clinical Research Nurse to oversee the setup, delivery and management of our portfolio of studies mainly based in Paediatric ED but also covering infectious diseases, haematology and paediatric intensive care clinical research studies. The role will be primarily based at St. Mary's with most of the recruitment of participants taking place in Paediatric ED but will also involve working over various areas of the hospital and potentially occasional visits across different sites within the Trust.

• As a Band 6 research nurse you will be involved in assessing and managing care pathways for participants in research: including, recruitment, education and monitoring of research subjects,
• Providing support for research participants and their families and the accurate collection and documentation of data.
• You will work collaboratively with colleagues in the research team and the wider multidisciplinary team, to support existing clinical trials and studies.
• You will also require a working knowledge and compliance with local, national and international research regulations including Good Clinical Practice (GCP).

• The post is open to secondment or part-time or jobshare applicants who ideally be a qualified paediatric nurse with some clinical research experience. The post holder(s) will have strong clinical skills in general and emergency paediatric care and some general leadership experience. In addition, they will be an enthusiastic individual who is looking to advance their career in clinical research, particularly in the fields of paediatric emergency and childhood diseases.
• They will be part of a first-class team with a track record of delivering high-quality paediatric clinical research studies.
• The role is fully supported, with training provided to ensure patient safety and compliance with ICH Good Clinical Practice Guidelines for Research, delivering research to the highest level of excellence.
• Registered nurse
• Educated to degree level in relevant subject area or equivalent experience, RSCN/RN (child)
• Non-medical prescribing
• Advanced practice qualification, Minimum of 2 year at band 5 in a relevant clinical area
• Evidence of continuing professional development, Knowledge of National Institute of Health Research (NIHR), its values, aims and structure
• Experience in managing complex information
• Proven participation in the consent process for patients entering clinical trials
• Clinical Research and audit experience, Be able to demonstrate knowledge of specialist patient group
• Proven teaching and assessing skills
• Able to prioritise and meet deadlines
• Ability to work autonomously and as a member of a small team, as well as part of the wider multidisciplinary team, Change management skills and involvement in project work
• Evidence of accuracy to detail in data collection
• Knowledge of clinical research methodology and trial protocols
