Cardiff and Vale University Health Board (UHB) invites applications for a Band 5 role within the Children's SLT Service Early Years Team. The successful candidate will join a supportive and friendly team working with children and families in a variety of settings across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.

Main duties of the job:

  • Provide speech and language therapy intervention to a caseload of children with a range of communication difficulties and disorders within the early years team.
  • Children and families will be seen at various sites across the region.
  • Work as a member of the multidisciplinary team (MDT), liaise with other agencies and disciplines for individual children.
  • Participate in best practice initiatives.
  • Collaborate with speech and language therapy technical instructors to provide observation placements for SLT students.
  • Undertake teaching/training of other professions.

Person Specification:

  • Experience
  • Degree in speech and language therapy
  • HCPC Registration
  • Undergraduate experience working with children and adults with a range of communication and swallowing problems
  • Evidence of demonstrating activities to others
  • RCSLT membership

Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience providing speech and language therapy to children and families
  • Experience working with children in the early years
  • Experience working with school‑aged children

Special Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of management options for a range of communication and swallowing problems
