Role Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated HCPC‑registered Band 5 Occupational Therapist to join our friendly and supportive Sensory Service in the East Riding of Yorkshire.
This service supports children and young people by providing advice, guidance, and practical strategies to meet their sensory needs.
The role includes delivering both telephone consultations and face‑to‑face appointments, working collaboratively with families to develop effective sensory strategies and reasonable adjustments.
The post holder will carry out assessments and provide tailored advice to support participation and engagement in daily activities across home and school environments.
You will be based in Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire, with the flexibility to work across the area in response to service needs.

Responsibilities
- Provide a high standard of evidence‑based occupational therapy to children and young people in the service area.
- Carry out assessments and develop tailored sensory strategies to support participation in home and school activities.
- Maintain complete and contemporaneous patient documentation in line with HCPC/RCOT and Trust standards.
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary/multi‑agency team and act as a positive role model to all staff.
- Manage your own autonomous practice, ensuring effective patient/client care and safety.
- Attend Band5 meetings, engaging in CPD opportunities and reflective practice.
- Participate in the Trust Preceptorship Academy as required.
- Provide support to students through practice placements if requested.
Qualifications
- HCPC‑registered Band5 Occupational Therapist.
- Degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy.
- Sound knowledge of occupational therapy models, standardised assessments and evidence‑based practice.
- Understanding of relevant policy, legislation and clinical standards.
- Basic IT skills and evidence of recent CPD or advanced qualifications.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and time‑management skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
- Ability to commute between the various sites and to manage daily operations safely.
- Willingness to undertake mandatory safety and violence‑management training.
