About the Role
Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an exceptional Senior Occupational Health Business Partner to join our forward‑thinking and high‑performing organisation. This rare opportunity will lead and shape Occupational Health services across one of the largest Trusts in the country, supporting a workforce of over 15,000 staff and delivering services across multiple sites.
Key Responsibilities
Provide senior leadership across Occupational Health services, ensuring effective delivery of clinical and case management services while maintaining high standards of care, governance and performance. Lead complex case management, absence management strategies and workforce health initiatives, providing expert advice to senior managers and stakeholders. Oversee service performance through development and monitoring of KPIs, lead audits, risk assessments and investigations, and ensure compliance with regulatory and professional standards. Drive policy development, implement health and wellbeing strategies, and lead innovation to improve service delivery and workforce outcomes.
Manage and develop the Occupational Health team, ensuring a skilled, motivated, and high‑performing workforce, while supporting recruitment, performance management and professional development. Contribute to the commercial strategy, supporting contract development and external partnerships, and represent the service at a senior level both internally and externally.
Qualifications & Experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel, and OH systems.
- Experience and proven track record of operating at a Senior Level with extensive experience within NHS Occupational Health.
- Proven experience managing major projects in Occupational Health using project management tools.
- Experience of policy development, evidence of work to SEQOHS accreditation, including National Audit.
- Experience in managing and leading professional HR and service teams.
- Experience with contract bidding and income generation within any occupational health setting.
- Experience in managing Flu campaigns in large organisations.
- Evidence of managing HSE inspections, NMC Pin, NEBOSH qualification.
- Project Management Certificate.
- Specialist Degree in Occupational Health (Part 3 on the register). Master’s Degree.
Salary
AfC salary scale: Entry: £66,582, Midpoint: £70,896, Top: £77,368.
