Overview

We’re looking for a qualified Second Chef to join Barchester. You’ll deliver hotel/restaurant standards, maintain a supportive and balanced work environment, and collaborate with residents to create personalised, nutritious menus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence.
  • Assist the Head Chef with menu development and ensuring all dishes meet high quality and nutritional standards.
  • Work with fresh produce to deliver wholesome dishes cooked at the highest standards.
  • Create a warm, efficient, and fun kitchen environment.
  • Work within budget and conduct regular audits.
  • Manage stock control and kitchen supplies.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Hold City & Guilds, NVQ, SVQ or equivalent qualification.
  • Good understanding of nutrition (and the ability to create appetising, nutritious menus for residents).
  • Experience working with fresh seasonal food.
  • Understanding of HACCP.
  • Ability to build a warm and welcoming environment within our home and confidently engage with residents.
