Job Overview

Provide a high standard of holistic Care (physical, emotional, social and spiritual), play and professional friendship to the child and their immediate and extended family, and to provide continuity of Care by working both in the community and in the Julias House Hospice as appropriate.

Be involved in the planning and running of activity sessions, including the development and maintenance of activity packs, both in the Hospice and the Community.

Develop, monitor and maintain individualized programmes of activities tailored to each child's or young person's specific requirements.

The successful candidate will be based at our Dorset Hospice in Corfe Mullen, working in the Hospice and across Dorset in the homes of the children and young people we look after, caring for children and young people with complex health care needs and supporting them with end-of-life care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide holistic Care and play to the child and family.
  • Plan and run activity sessions and maintain activity packs.
  • Develop and maintain individualized activity programmes.
  • Work flexibly beside families, supporting them in the manner they choose.
  • Take a proactive role in professional training and personal development.
  • Promote and maintain close relations and liaison with all Care staff.
  • Work within the appropriate regulatory bodies and help maintain accurate records of methods, evidence of policies and monitoring of procedures for inspection.

Qualifications and Experience

  • NVQ 2 / 3 in Care or equivalent.
  • Experience of working within a Care environment.
  • Basic understanding of equal opportunities.
  • Community based experience (e. g., Sure Start, portage).
  • Experience of working within a play-setting.
  • Safeguarding Awareness Level 1.
  • Disclosure and Barring Service Check.
  • Legal Requirements
  • Submittal for Disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly CRB) is required in accordance with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
  • Additional Requirements
  • A full driving licence and use of a vehicle for business purposes are essential.
  • Permanent contract from 20 hours a week, hourly rate £14.99 per hour.
