An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join the NETs service. We invite applicants for the role of Service Coordinator/Secretary. This is a permanent position.
Since 2017, NHS Wales Joint Commissioning Committee (JCC) have commissioned a service for patients with Neuroendocrine Tumours (NETs) for South Wales in partnership with Velindre Cancer Centre and Swansea Bay University Health Board. Serving a population of 2.5 million, it is hosted by Cardiff & Vale University Health Board. As one of the larger centres in the UK, it has been accredited as a European Centre of Excellence since 2022, receiving approximately 200 new patients a year in addition to a large cohort of follow-up patients living with the disease.
Main duties of the job
The Service Coordinator/Secretary will provide vital administrative support to clinical teams within the Neuroendocrine Tumour Service. This post is therefore an integral part of the NETs team and will report directly to the Service Manager and Lead NET Consultant. The successful candidate will work closely with the Clinical Lead and Clinical team and will play a vital role in the day-to-day running of the Service.
The successful candidate will have significant admin/secretarial experience with knowledge of using Windows and Microsoft packages. Exceptional written and oral skills are required as well as the ability to multi-task. Good organisational and time management skills are also required.
The range of duties will be full of variety:
- Coordinating the provision of comprehensive secretarial and administrative service to the South Wales Neuroendocrine Cancer Service.
- Meeting clerical/admin service requirements efficiently and effectively.
- Managing the patient administration including waiting list and referral management, booking processes, correspondence and maintaining medical records.
- Communicating with a wide range of professional staff, patients, relatives, and carers utilising tact and diplomacy both internal and external to UHB.

Salary: £27,898 to £30,615 a year per annum, pro rata.
