The Senior Clinical Fellow will work closely with the consultant neurosurgeons and the wider multidisciplinary team, gaining extensive exposure to general neurosurgery with opportunities to develop subspecialty interests depending on service needs and the fellow's aspirations.
The role will include attendance at consultant-led operating lists, participation in outpatient clinics and involvement in weekly neurosurgical MDT meetings. There may also be opportunities to attend specialist clinics or services aligned with the fellow's development goals. The post-holder will participate in the middle-grade on-call rota for general neurosurgery, although there will be no regular daytime non-specialist clinical commitments unless required for service provision.
The fellowship includes dedicated time for research, audit and service development projects. The fellow will also be expected to attend and contribute to the weekly departmental educational meeting. The post is available from August 2026 for a period of 12 months.
Main dutiesThe post will involve providing clinical care for patients on the neurosurgical wards, the opportunity to attend clinic and theatre sessions alongside our Neurosurgical Consultant team. The post holder will participate on the Neurosurgery on-call rota. Post holders will have access to the same opportunities as the doctors in training who they will work alongside. In addition to a clinical role there will be opportunities to undertake specific research projects within the department.
The successful candidate will join a dynamic neurosurgical team consisting of twelve Consultant Neurosurgeons as well as a Professorial Academic Unit.
