Senior Clinical Fellow In Inflammatory Bowel Disease in Cardiff

This post is aimed at a post-CCT/senior registrar level with solid background in gastroenterology, looking to get specialist experience in IBD. There is no on call commitment for this role. We have been recognised as a BSG endorsed IBD fellowship post and full details are on their website.

Main duties of the job:

• Participate in regular complex IBD inpatient and outpatient work.
• Joint IBD / Surgical clinics.
• IBD / PSC clinics.
• IBD pregnancy outpatient reviews.
• Paediatric to adult IBD transition clinics.
• Weekly IBD joint IBD, Radiology, Histology, Colorectal surgery MDT (Comprehensive MDT).
• Weekly IBD advanced therapy MDT.
• Access to dedicated training list for chromoendoscopy and IBD/PSC surveillance and detection of dysplastic lesions, depending on the candidate's level of endoscopic experience.
• IBD hot clinics for acute flares on both sites.
• Provide urgent IP consultations to patients presenting with acute severe colitis and liaise with our IBD surgeons and wider MDT to ensure appropriate inpatient management.
• Involvement in multicenter IBD trials.
• Participate in mandated departmental and service audits, alongside service improvement projects.

Person Specification:

Experience:

• Essential: Post-CCT or towards end of specialist training in gastroenterology.
• Evidence of participation in Research and Clinical Governance.
• Desirable: JAG accreditation for colonoscopy.

Qualifications:

• Essential: MBBS or recognised equivalent.
• Current GMC registration with a Full Licence to Practise.
• Desirable: MRCP completed.

Skills:

• Essential: Commitment to team approach and multi-disciplinary working.
• Research and interests relevant to specialty.
• Effective and demonstrable communication skills in written and spoken English adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues.
• Desirable: Computing skills.
