This post is aimed at a post-CCT/senior registrar level with solid background in gastroenterology, looking to get specialist experience in IBD. There is no on call commitment for this role. We have been recognised as a BSG endorsed IBD fellowship post and full details are on their website.
Main duties of the job:
- Participate in regular complex IBD inpatient and outpatient work.
- Joint IBD / Surgical clinics.
- IBD / PSC clinics.
- IBD pregnancy outpatient reviews.
- Paediatric to adult IBD transition clinics.
- Weekly IBD joint IBD, Radiology, Histology, Colorectal surgery MDT (Comprehensive MDT).
- Weekly IBD advanced therapy MDT.
- Access to dedicated training list for chromoendoscopy and IBD/PSC surveillance and detection of dysplastic lesions, depending on the candidate's level of endoscopic experience.
- IBD hot clinics for acute flares on both sites.
- Provide urgent IP consultations to patients presenting with acute severe colitis and liaise with our IBD surgeons and wider MDT to ensure appropriate inpatient management.
- Involvement in multicenter IBD trials.
- Participate in mandated departmental and service audits, alongside service improvement projects.

Person Specification:
Experience:
- Essential: Post-CCT or towards end of specialist training in gastroenterology.
- Evidence of participation in Research and Clinical Governance.
- Desirable: JAG accreditation for colonoscopy.
Qualifications:
- Essential: MBBS or recognised equivalent.
- Current GMC registration with a Full Licence to Practise.
- Desirable: MRCP completed.
Skills:
- Essential: Commitment to team approach and multi-disciplinary working.
- Research and interests relevant to specialty.
- Effective and demonstrable communication skills in written and spoken English adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues.
- Desirable: Computing skills.
