The Occupational therapy service within Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join one of our Community Mental Health Teams. This role offers an opportunity to deliver high-quality, recovery-focused occupational therapy to adults with complex mental health needs across Cardiff and the Vale. You will work closely within a multidisciplinary team to complete specialist occupational therapy assessments, develop strengths-based intervention plans, and support individuals to engage in meaningful occupations, promote independence, and enhance wellbeing. The post sits within a supportive service that values reflective practice, supervision, and continuous professional development.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Specialist Occupational Therapy Assessment and Intervention: Undertake comprehensive, evidence-based occupational therapy assessments and interventions addressing occupational performance, functional ability, and environmental factors, to inform formulation and recovery planning.
  • Multidisciplinary Team Working: Work collaboratively within the CMHT providing occupational therapy expertise to MDT discussions, care planning, and reviews.
  • Care Coordination and Contribution to CPA: Where appropriate, act as or contribute to care coordination and Care Programme Approach (CPA) processes, ensuring occupational perspectives are embedded in holistic care plans.
  • Leadership and Professional Responsibility: Take responsibility for own caseload, prioritising effectively, and providing day-to-day support and supervision to other staff members.
  • Service Development and Quality Improvement: Contributing to all aspects of service development.
  • Professional Development: Actively engage in supervision, appraisal, reflective practice, and continuing professional development to maintain and enhance clinical competence and professional knowledge.
