Do you enjoy working in an exciting and challenging environment? We are looking for an experienced Secretary to join us, working 37.5 hours per week in the Obstetrics & Gynaecology Directorate at the University Hospital of Wales. The post holder will provide a comprehensive and flexible secretarial service for the Obstetrics & Gynaecology team. This post is fixed term for 1 year to cover maternity leave.
Main duties of the job:
- The post holder will provide a comprehensive secretarial service to our Obstetrics & Gynaecology Team.
- As an experienced Secretary, you will have excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills and the ability to work on your own initiative and as part of the team.
- You would be joining friendly, dedicated teams who know the service well and who will be able to help you settle in.

Person Specification:
- Qualifications: RSA III or equivalent qualification in Word Processing and Audio Typing or equivalent experience. AMSPAR diploma or working towards.
- Experience: Previous medical secretary experience or equivalent secretarial experience. Previous experience of working in an administration environment and of team working. Knowledge of Intranet/Internet and email. Previous experience of working with the public. Experience of working with a range of staff from multi-disciplines.
- Skills: Evidence of a high standard of communication, prioritisation and organisational skills when face to face and when using telephone. Evidence of good interpersonal skills. Able to function efficiently under pressure and to meet deadlines. A good range of I.T skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Previous experience of working with databases.
- Ability to speak Welsh.
- Special Knowledge: Ability to work on own initiative and as part of the secretarial team. Ability to work in extremely busy environment. Previous experience of health services environment.
- Personal Qualities: Reliable, methodical and with a flexible approach to work and with an ability to work on own initiative.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
Salary: £27,898 to £30,615 per annum pro rata.
