This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and ambitious team at the University Hospital of Wales which births over 5,400 women per year and provides tertiary gynae‑oncology and fetal & maternal medicine services for all South East Wales. We are looking for someone with an interest in service improvement that aligns with evidence‑based medicine and interest in multi‑professional teaching and training.

In addition, applicants who are currently or have most recently been employed as a substantive Consultant or as a Locum Consultant in post for more than 12 months must also provide the name of their Medical Director as an additional referee.

Main duties of the job

The Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology – primarily based at the University Hospital of Wales site – provides midwife‑led and obstetric‑led care to women within Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. Around 1/5 of our antenatal care is provided from University Hospital Llandough and this is both midwife and obstetric‑led care. The UHB also provides a tertiary service for fetal medicine, maternal medicine, infertility and gynae‑oncology.

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is recognised as a teaching centre of excellence in a wide range of clinical services.
