Job summary

The Counselling and Psychological Therapies for Depression (CPTD) service, based at Cardiff Royal Infirmary, is a large, friendly team that offers counselling and a range of other psychological interventions to treat people experiencing depression. The service is excited to be able to offer new opportunities to join the service and support the team in service delivery and development.

Job responsibilities

• To provide high intensity, specialist evidence‑based psychological therapy interventions (requiring psychological therapist specialist training) and support delivery of a pathway of condition‑specific care which will deliver high fidelity psychological interventions as designated in Matrics Cymru.

Qualifications

Essential

• Meets essential qualifications as a psychological therapist as outlined in detail in the job description.

Desirable

• Formal training in supervision.
• Teaching qualification.

Experience

Essential

• Extensive experience of undertaking assessments and providing evidence‑based interventions.
• Experience in providing supervision / consultation for other clinicians.
• Experience of effective multidisciplinary / team working NHS / equivalent.
• Experience of participating in the planning and development of services.
• Experience of successful change management and dealing with conflict.
• Experienced in speaking & lecturing in public & professional forums.

Desirable

• Experience of research.
• Experience of working with families, drawing on a systemic knowledge and practice base.

• High level communication and interpersonal skills to convey and receive complex, highly technical, sensitive information effectively at both a written and oral level.
• Skilled in working with people at all levels from all disciplines and interagency level.

• High level of presentation and report writing skills for clinical and academic content in a range of contexts.

• Skilled and experienced in providing clinical supervision to a range of clinicians.
• Professional knowledge acquired through degree/diploma supplemented by specialist training, experience, and short courses.
• Knowledge of research design, methodology and analysis.
• Up to date knowledge of legislation, policy and professional issues pertinent to the area of specialism and its contexts.
