An excellent opportunity has arisen for a rehabilitation assistant to work alongside the established therapies team to provide comprehensive rehabilitation within Critical Care/Long term ventilation services. This is a multi-disciplinary rehabilitation assistant role working as part of a dynamic team comprising Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Dietitians, Speech and Language Therapists and Clinical Psychologists. You will be delivering early rehabilitation programmes to patients within the critical care/long term ventilation service at the University Hospital of Wales. This role will enable you to gain and develop your rehabilitation skills through working with a range of patients with a variety of conditions and injuries.
We wish to appoint a motivated individual with excellent communication skills, effective team working, initiative and a passion for rehabilitation. Previous experience in rehabilitation in the acute hospital setting would be advantageous.
Main duties of the job:
- The successful applicant will need to demonstrate they have an interest in rehabilitation, are a team player with excellent communication skills, a positive outlook, enthusiastic and can learn new skills.
- The post holder will provide a service alongside the therapy team to assist in the provision of patient centered rehabilitation.
- They will work, under supervision, to assist the therapists in clinical and administrative duties, following specific competency-based training.
- The post holder will be delegated routine treatment programmes to be carried out independently, and progress treatments within guidelines laid down by the Therapists.
- A full and comprehensive induction and training programme will be provided, allowing you to develop skills in various therapeutic areas.
Working hours are Monday to Friday to support the multi-disciplinary therapies team. This post is based at the University Hospital of Wales. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification:
Qualifications:- Good command of the English Language - GCSE Grade C or above or equivalent
- Basic maths skills
- Evidence of further education e.g. NVQ, sport science degree or other
- Healthcare work
- Dealing with People both individually or in groups
- Working in a team
- Previous therapy assistant experience
- Working with older people
- Ability to communicate with a wide range of people
