Applications are invited for a Consultant Paediatric Anaesthetist to join a rapidly expanding anaesthetic department working across the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital for Wales, the University Hospital of Wales and University Hospital in Cardiff. The role is full‑time with consideration for flexible working arrangements.

Academic Interests

Academic interests will be encouraged; research and teaching in collaboration with Cardiff University’s Wales College of Medicine will be expected. The Anaesthetic Department has a very active ongoing academic research programme.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the paediatric anaesthetic work of the Department including cover for consultant colleagues where practical.
  • Work flexibly to maintain skilled consultant cover for emergency service provision.
  • Provide sessions in various surgical disciplines: Neurosurgery, Orthopaedics, ENT, Head & Neck Surgery, Ophthalmology, Trauma, General and Emergency Surgery.

Qualifications and Experience

On the Specialist Register for Anaesthetics or a Specialist Registrar within six months of the expected date of receipt of a CCT at the time of interview. Successful applicants will be required to obtain a satisfactory disclosure check.
