Consultant in Paediatric & General Radiology

Join to apply for the Consultant in Paediatric & General Radiology role at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the post of Consultant in Paediatric & General Radiology based at University Hospital of Wales (UHW), Cardiff.

The post holder will join a team of 57 Consultant Radiologists (including 6 paediatric radiologists) to share provision of imaging services across Cardiff and Vale UHB to support primary, secondary and tertiary care across a range of specialties.

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is recognised as a teaching centre of excellence in a wide range of clinical services.

Although this post is full-time, consideration will be given to applicants who require flexible working arrangements.

Applicants should either be on the Specialist Register or be a Specialist Registrar within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT at the time of interview.

You will be able to take advantage of the excellent Consultant contract for Wales. The basic salary range for this post is £110,240 per annum to £160,951 per annum.

Applicants must ensure they provide names and contact details of referees covering at least the last 3 years of their employment/training history in full. In addition, applicants who are currently or have most recently been employed as a substantive Consultant or as a Locum Consultant in post for more than 12 months must also provide the name of their Medical Director as an additional referee.

Sessional commitments will be delivered at the Children’s Hospital for Wales and at UHW as part of a developing network service for Paediatric Radiology. It will provide an exciting opportunity to further develop existing paediatric radiology services across the region and will help towards achieving a more equitable distribution of specialist paediatric radiology provision in South Wales. Sessions will be in all areas of paediatric and general radiology.

There is a commitment to the 1 in 23 on‑call service for body radiology within Cardiff and Vale UHB and a proposal to transition to a 1 in 8 paediatric on‑call commitment in the future. There are separate on‑call rotas which cover MSK radiology, neuroradiology, and interventional radiology.

Academic interests will be encouraged; research and teaching in collaboration with Cardiff University’s School of Medicine will be expected.
