Goleudy is a psychology-led service provided by Cardiff and Vale University Health Board in partnership with Cardiff and Vale Local Authority. Goleudy supports young people, their families, and support systems, who are experiencing high levels of distress. The team's name is derived from the Welsh word for Lighthouse and symbolises a 'beacon of hope' in the difficult moments for our young people and families. Goleudy has been developed around core values of providing trauma-informed care, being formulation driven, and attachment focused.
The team ethos ensures that shared understanding of young people's needs are centred around: 'what has happened to the young person?' and 'what has the young person survived' as opposed to: 'what is wrong with the young person?' This understanding will determine how the team supports young people and their families at times of high distress.
The team is comprised of Clinical Psychologists, OTs, Assistant Psychologists and team members from Education and Children's Services from the Local Authority. In accordance with trauma informed principles, the team receives regular supervision, reflective practice and training. Building, maintaining and growing relationships is key to the team. Emphasis will be placed on working alongside and in partnership with the existing services within the local authority (social work & education) and health systems.
We are looking to recruit a Practitioner Psychologist who is passionate about trauma-informed care and working with young people, families and systems in distress. The Psychologist will have the opportunity to work clinically with young people, their families and wider support systems to support young people who have experienced developmental trauma.
Within Goleudy, there will be opportunities for the psychologist to embrace the full range of competencies and skills of a psychologist including offering consultation, reflective practice, training, supervision and supporting service development to help create meaningful and impactful change. The post-holder will be integral in developing trauma-informed psychological formulation in the team and beyond to support the care of young people across all areas of their lives. Goleudy works alongside and under the umbrella of the Enfys team so there is a fantastic opportunity to cross-pollinate learning, leadership and support.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
