Position Ouse Valley CAMHS Service (Lewes, Uckfield, Crowborough) offers a permanent Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS) Consultant Psychiatrist role within our locality team.
Key Responsibilities Deliver high‑quality specialist clinical assessments, including relevant psychiatric and physical investigations to children, young people and their families across a range of settings and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to plan and deliver individually tailored treatment plans.
Work jointly with nurses, psychologists, systemic family therapists, child psychotherapists, consultants and specialty doctors within Sussex CHYPS.
Participate in regular division meetings, clinical governance meetings and a Trust‑wide consultant network to share best practice.
Engage patients, carers and supporters in shared decision‑making and support the delivery of a participation strategy.
Contribute to continuous professional development, research or service evaluation, clinical audit and quality improvement programmes.
Qualifications and Experience MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practice at the time of appointment.
Included on the GMC Specialist Register or able to achieve within six months.
In good standing with the GMC with respect to warnings and conditions on practice.
Appropriate specialist and sub‑specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or a comparable service.
Excellent knowledge in specialty, excellent clinical skills using a bio‑psycho‑social perspective and broad medical knowledge.
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
Able to deliver undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and training.
Capacity to lead and work effectively within a team, demonstrating shared leadership and collaborative working to deliver improvement.
Ability to work in a participatory manner, ensuring collaborative decision‑making with service users regarding formulation, diagnosis and ongoing care.
Appropriate transport: holds and will use a valid UK driving licence or provides evidence of an alternative.

Remuneration Recruitment and Retention payment of £45,000 structured over a three‑year period: £15,000 payable upon successful recruitment. £10,000 payable at 12 months’ service. £10,000 payable at 24 months’ service. £10,000 payable at 36 months’ service.
