This is an exciting opportunity to join our Thanet CHYPMHS team as a specialty doctor. The role is full‑time and you will work alongside a multidisciplinary team of consultant psychiatrists, therapists, nurse prescribers and CAMHS practitioners in a dedicated building in Broadstairs.
Responsibilities
- Assessment, formulation and management of young people under the service, including psychiatric formulation, prescribing, monitoring of medication and recommendations for appropriate non‑pharmacological treatments.
- Attend and contribute to network approach meetings for any young people under your care, managed jointly between health, education and social care, to share clear formulation and treatment plans.
- Attend weekly MDT meetings and contribute to case discussions and treatment planning.
- Assessment and management of ADHD and ASD (opportunity for support and skill development if required).
- Repeat prescribing of medication for young people under the service.
- Participation in the Pan Kent daytime duty rota (9‑5 Mon‑Fri), supporting the crisis team with psychiatric assessments for young people in crisis across the county, including those subject to the Mental Health Act.
- Possibility to gain S12 approval within the post if needed.
Qualifications and Requirements
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
- In good standing with GMC with respect to warnings and conditions on practice.
- Approved under S12 or able to achieve with 6 months of appointment.
- Valid UK driving licence or evidence of proposed alternative transport.
- At least 4 years postgraduate experience, including at least 2 years in a core psychiatry training programme.
- Good knowledge in the specialty and good clinical skills using a bio‑psycho‑social perspective and wide medical knowledge.
- Good oral and written communication skills in English.
- Postgraduate experience in the specialty.

- Commitment to quality through knowledge of quality improvement and lean thinking methodology (or ability to achieve within one year of appointment).
- Able to deputise for a consultant psychiatrist.
- Knowledge of the structure and management of the NHS and the Trust.
