Therapy Assistants - In Patient Therapy in Bradford

Each team provides patient care in a ward setting to deliver effective therapy and rehabilitation, assisting patients to improve their function and return home safely after an illness, injury or surgery. While mainly ward based we do also undertake work in different settings such as clinics, out patient and within patients own homes., The successful applicant will be enthusiastic about working in a team delivering excellent patient care and committed to personal development. They will be supported by a team of therapists to develop their existing clinical skills, through comprehensive shadowing and competency assessment and training programmes. They will have regular supervision to support and develop clinical reasoning to become competent practitioners taking responsibility for a caseload delegated to them by the qualified therapists. These posts require staff to transport themselves and equipment across the city between patient appointments safely. We also run a seven day service with weekends working being part of the routine rota in these two teams., Please see attached for the job description document for this post for further details in regards to the main responsibilities of the role.

• Experience of working as part of a team
• Experience of working as a healthcare/ therapy assistant
• Experience, knowledge and awareness of patient care/need e.g. patient monitoring
• Experience of dealing with members of the public, Experience of working in the NHS
• Experience of working in a rehabilitation environment, Basic IT skills
• Good verbal and written command of English
• Good interpersonal skills
• Numeracy skills (demonstrated through qualifications or experience)
• Ability to plan/organise own and delegated workload and work under pressure in a busy environment in a professional manner
• Aware of own strengths and limitations/levels of competence
• Record keeping and documentation
• Ability to respond to changes in patient condition
• Ability to work as a team member
• Motivation, reliability and ability to work as part of a team
• Flexibility and adaptability, Understanding of Information Governance and Confidentiality
• Good understanding of health care relevant to the potential client group
• Understands the limits of the job role. Has the ability to recognise situations that require reporting and demonstrates the ability to elevate to a senior person where appropriate
• Ability to carry out and report on observations/tests, Care certificate (or willingness to undertake) (will be paid as a trainee until complete)
• Minimum NVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care or in Care, Professional appearance in accordance with Trust policy
• Demonstrates an ability to provide good customer service
• Motivation and commitment to provide a high standard of care
• Full driving license and access to a car (reasonable adjustments will be considered)
