Specialist School Nurse in Bracknell

Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

• Lead the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of evidence-based nursing care in collaboration with the Community Children's Nursing (CCN) Team.




• Deliver training, mentoring and care planning for staff nurses, nursery nurses, support workers and school staff using competency-based training packages.




• Develop and maintain individualised care plans for pupils.




• Work closely with safeguarding and children-in-care teams, contributing to reports and attending relevant meetings., Themust haves for this role:




• NMC-registeredChildrens Nurse, Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (School Nursing), or Learning Disabilities Nurse.
  Strong communicationskills, with the ability to manage complex situations and liaise effectively with school communities and external agencies.




• Proven ability to work independently, manage a caseload, and use your initiative.




• Afull UK driving licenceand access to a vehicle for work purposes., Community degree




• Teaching Qualification




• Continuous Professional Development,




• Proven experience in working with children and young people who have complex health needs and an associated learning disability




• Safeguarding knowledge and experience, Community Paediatric Nursing experience




• Experience of working within a special school, Paediatric clinical skills, e.g. management of gastrostomies




• High standard of clinical work




• Able to manage own caseload




• Effective time management skills and able to prioritise workload




• Able to manage junior staff and students




• Good understanding of IT skills




• Ability to work as part of a team and autonomously




• Excellent written communication skills




• Ability to assist and motivate others




• Good record keeping (in line with professional guidance).




• Excellent verbal communication skills incorporating communication with children\\young people and their carers.

We are excited to offer a new opportunity within our expanding team for a Specialist School Nurse. This role is ideal for a passionate and dedicated professional who is committed to supporting children and young people (CYP) with complex needs and learning disabilities. As part of our friendly and skilled community-based team, you will deliver high-quality nursing care to CYP across East Berkshire. Based primarily at Kennel Lane School in Bracknell, you will play a key role in providing a seamless and compassionate service to children, young people and their families. This is a fixed-term position for the 2026/27 academic year and we are looking for someone who has ONE of the following qualifications; NMC-registered Children's Nurse OR Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (School Nursing), OR Learning Disabilities Nurse. This is a part-time role, with flexibility to work within core hours of 08:00-17:00, Monday to Friday.
