We are looking for a professional, conscientious and highly effective GP to join our friendly team in Botesdale to cover maternity leave for 6 months.
We are a rural GMS 10,000 patient surgery with 4 Partners, 6 salaried GPs and a fantastic clinical and practice team with an on-site dispensary.
Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload and deliver high‑quality primary care to all registered and temporary patients.
- Surgery consultations, telephone consultations, patient home visits, checking and signing repeat prescriptions.
- Make professional, autonomous decisions on presenting problems, whether self‑referral or referred from other health‑care workers.
- Assess the health‑care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
- Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
- Develop care plans in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease‑management protocols.
- Provide counselling and health education.
- Admit or discharge patients to and from the caseload, and refer to other care providers as appropriate.
- Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
- Compile and issue computer‑generated acute and repeat prescriptions, avoiding handwritten prescriptions whenever possible.
- Prescribe in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever clinically appropriate.
- Collect data for audit purposes.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant practice policies and guidelines (e. g., prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety).
- Contribute to evaluation/audit and clinical standard‑setting within the organisation.
- Help develop computer‑based patient records and summarise patient data using read coding.
- Attend training and events organised by the practice or other agencies, where appropriate.

- Contribute to the development of patient records, summarisation of data, and read coding of patient information.
- Provide assistance with training and support for colleagues.

All such information must be regarded as strictly confidential and may only be divulged to authorised persons in accordance with practice policies and procedures.

- Implement and lead staff health‑safety and infection‑control practices as defined in practice policy and manual.
- Use personal security systems within the workplace in accordance with guidelines.
- Provide advice on the correct and safe management of specimen processes, including collection, labelling, handling and storage.
- Ensure correct personal use of PPE, and advise others on appropriate circumstances for use.
- Manage incidents of accidental exposure and health‑safety hazards, initiating remedial action or escalation to responsible management.
- Maintain a clean, sterile and safe working environment, including proper waste and instrument management.
- Undergo periodic infection‑control training (at least twice annually).

Certifications
