We are looking for a Pharmacy Assistant – Homecare.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and validate prescriptions.
  • Process prescriptions and send them to home‑care companies.
  • Process invoices for home‑care deliveries.
  • Maintain accurate record‑keeping of prescriptions and invoices.
  • Communicate with the home‑care team and companies regarding discrepancies.
  • Produce orders to suppliers and process the orders.
  • Check and process delivery notes and invoices, ensuring they reflect orders received.
  • Problem‑solve ordering and invoice issues in liaison with the Computer and Procurement Pharmacy Technician.
  • Stock top‑up medicines on wards and departments.
  • Answer incoming phone calls politely, refer as appropriate and take accurate messages.
  • Maintain high‑quality data input into the pharmacy dispensary computer system.

Qualifications

  • Secondary school standard (5 GCSEs including Maths and English, grade C or above or equivalent).
  • NVQ in pharmacy services or equivalent pharmacy experience.
  • At least one year experience as a pharmacy assistant or in related pharmacy work.
  • Previous experience working in community, hospital or ICB settings.
  • Knowledge of safe and secure handling of medicines, and NHS pharmacy procurement, distribution, storage and transportation processes.
  • Experience training others.
  • Ability to work with NHS pharmacy procurement and distribution systems.
  • Good organisational, prioritisation, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and computer skills (Microsoft Office, email, internet).
  • Self‑motivated, reliable, enthusiastic, able to work under pressure, and adaptable to change.
  • Good numeracy and capability to lift/carry goods.
  • Honest, trustworthy and able to use initiative while recognising limits.
