Clinical Duties

Provide high-quality obstetric and gynaecological care across UHB sites. Participate in antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care. Assess and manage obstetric emergencies and labour ward activity. Provide care for women attending emergency gynaecology services. Participate in operating theatres, outpatient clinics and inpatient ward care. Undertake appropriate procedures within their level of competence. Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation.

Teaching and Training

Participate in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education. Contribute to teaching programmes for medical students, resident doctors, nursing staff and allied health professionals. Support the training and supervision of junior doctors. Participate in simulation and multidisciplinary education activities.

Clinical Governance

Participate in clinical audit and quality improvement projects. Contribute to governance meetings, morbidity and mortality reviews and risk management activities. Engage with departmental governance processes and national quality initiatives. Support improvements in patient safety and service delivery.

Professional Development

Maintain a portfolio of evidence and continuing professional development. Attend mandatory training and educational meetings. Participate in appraisal processes. Contribute to research and service development where appropriate.

On-Call Responsibilities

The successful candidate will participate in the middle-grade registrar rota, including: Labour ward cover. Emergency obstetrics and gynaecology. Weekend and night duties.

This post is designed for doctors who have substantial previous experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and are able to work at a level equivalent to a senior registrar. The successful candidate will gain extensive experience in both obstetrics and gynaecology, whilst contributing to the delivery of high-quality patient care within a busy tertiary referral centre and district general hospital environment. The post would be suitable for candidates who:

• Have completed core specialty training or equivalent experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
• Are preparing for higher specialty training or CESR pathways.
• Wish to further develop advanced clinical and surgical skills.
• Have an interest in medical education, leadership, quality improvement or research.
• Participation in the resident out-of-hours registrar rota will be expected.

• Full registration with the GMC with licence to practice.
• Evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies in line with GMC standards/Good Medical Practice
• Eligibility to live and work in the UK
• Medical Degree from a recognised University, Part 3 MRCOG (For ST6/7 equivalent)
• Advanced Life Skills in Obstetrics (ALSO) Obstetric Emergency skills, including CTG interpretation, A minimum of 3 years full time post graduate training (its equivalent gained on a part time basis) or equivalent experience and competencies equivalent to ST1&2 as per RCOG.
• Able to demonstrate clinical knowledge appropriate to level of responsibility.
• To be able to manage labour ward independently or with some supervision of a more senior clinician
• IT Skills, Previously worked with the NHS or experience in the NHS.
• Previous experience at ST5+ level as per RCOG requirements
