Band 3 Ward Service Coordinator - Neonatal Unit in Birmingham

As a Ward Services Coordinator, you have a vital role, ensuring our clinical teams have the equipment, supplies and resources they need to deliver outstanding care. From managing stock levels and maintaining equipment to organising documentation, milk supplies and the safe storage of medicines, your contribution will directly support the wellbeing of babies and their families. You'll work alongside a friendly, skilled team and collaborate closely with existing Ward Services Coordinators to keep our neonatal units running smoothly. Full‑time and part‑time opportunities are available, Monday to Sunday. If you thrive in a busy environment, communicate effectively, embrace teamwork and want a rewarding career supporting life‑changing care, we would love to hear from you., The Ward Coordinator will work in a clinical environment where new born babies are admitted for treatment. Although you will not be delivering direct patient care you will need to conduct yourself with professionalism and compassion at all times. You are valued member of our team who is depended on to ensure clinical staff have access to essential stock, equipment is clean and serviced when required, the clinical area is safe and free from hazards and families have access to supplies during their admission. You will be responsible for maintaining the storage and organisation of equipment and stock within the designated areas, reviewing stock levels and expiry dates, ordering additional supplies using an IT ordering system and supporting the clinical staff to ensure the environment and equipment is clean and working appropriately. You will complete designated competency‑based training session in medicines management to ensure stocks of pharmaceuticals are maintained at agreed levels and are kept in secure and appropriate storage areas in accordance with Trust policy. You must adhere to infection control guidelines and ensure that the safety of the babies is priority Treat colleagues, patients, families and visitors with respect and promote inclusivity and equality at UHB Communicate with colleagues and visitors effectively recognising barriers to communication and implementing strategies to overcome these. • Evidence of Level 2 on both Maths & English qualifications ( CSE Grade 1/ GCSE Grades 4-9 or A -C / Level 2 Functional Skills / O Level grade A-C / Level 2 National Certificate / Level 2 National Diploma / Level 2 ESOL )
• Evidence of completion of Level 3 Qualification or above in Health /Social Care or Hospitality & Catering ( BTEC/ CACHE Level 3 Award / Level 3 Certificate or Diploma ) or 2 A levels or equivalent experience of working in the NHS in a patient/public facing role in health / care or hospitality & catering
• Evidence of completion of training associated with employment in a role associated with health / care /hospitality or catering i.e. :Customers service/ Food Hygiene /Care Certificate/ Health & Safety i.e. COSHH
• Evidence of completion of "in house" training associated with employment, via on-line training platforms, Moodle, in house training etc., Considerable experience of working in a health/ care role or hospitality/ catering role which is customer facing in an NHS or health / care provider role as part of a multi-disciplinary
• team
• Experience of undertaking audit of stock and replenishment of supplies
• Can demonstrate understanding of the roles which make up the team of health and care staff within a hospital setting
• Can demonstrate understanding of the following :
• o Health & Safety
• o Infection prevention control practice
• o Food hygiene practice /standards
• o Moving and handling
• o Customer service /care skills
• Can demonstrate awareness and understanding of how they may be exposed to distressing situations associated with hospital patient care
• Can demonstrate understanding of how this role contributes to patient health and wellbeing
