Overview

The postholder will provide expert autonomous clinical practice for highly complex cardiomyopathy patients requiring initiation, optimisation, monitoring, and long-term management of Mavacamten therapy.

They will assist in the introduction of other cardiac myosin inhibitors as they become available.

They will act as the professional and operational lead for the service, working collaboratively across cardiology, pharmacy, imaging, genetics and commissioning teams to ensure compliance with NICE guidance, Trust governance standards and national service specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation and delivery of the NICE TA913‑approved Mavacamten pathway for patients with obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (o HCM) in the Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West region and wider referral network.
  • Provide strategic, clinical and operational leadership for the OUH Mavacamten service within the regional Inherited Cardiac Conditions (ICC) programme.
  • Deliver advanced autonomous assessment, prescribing, treatment initiation, optimisation and monitoring of patients receiving Mavacamten.
  • Run clinics independently and coordinate multidisciplinary care across tertiary and local services.
  • Develop sustainable operational pathways to support phased expansion of patient access.
  • Ensure robust governance, safety monitoring, audit and outcome reporting, and lead quality improvement projects.
  • Lead education and training for multidisciplinary staff across the regional network.
  • Support research, innovation and service development within cardiomyopathy care.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse with a first level degree.
  • Completed MSc L7 Advanced Practice.
  • Strong level of experience working in inherited cardiac conditions speciality.
  • Evidence of management and leadership experience.
  • Evidence of ongoing CPD and ability to work with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to deliver service measurement and improvement.
