Overview
Join Dunnock View as an Associate Specialist, delivering treatment to men and women with mental health needs in a friendly, committed, acute inpatient service.
You will work under the support of a Consultant Psychiatrist and Lead Consultant Psychiatrist.
Responsibilities
- Provide clinical assessment and support the consultant in assessing patients referred to the service.
- Complete regular mental state reviews and monitor medication side effects.
- Ensure high‑quality first‑line medical care for inpatients.
- Liaise effectively with external professionals, carers, and the multidisciplinary team.
- Provide written and oral evidence for Hospital Managers and Tribunal hearings.
- Work toward safe discharges and ensure adequate handover to out‑of‑hours colleagues.
- Seek collateral history from other professionals and family members.
- Prepare discharge letters, reports, and S62 forms.
- Prepare First‑tier Tribunal and Hospital Managers' hearing reports under supervision.
- Attend CPA meetings to review patient care with NHS England case managers and community care coordinators.
- Provide oral evidence at hearings under the consultant's supervision (experience dependent).
- Contribute to service development through Clinical Governance activities, audits, research, and teaching.
- Provide prospective cover to other specialty doctors when they are on leave.
- Liaise with GP and practice nurse regarding patients' physical healthcare.
Qualifications
- Full GMC registration.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in psychiatry and experience working in psychiatry within multi‑disciplinary teams.
- Good standing for CPD with the Royal College of Psychiatrists and appraisal/RITA process within the last year.
- Experience as a doctor within a similar environment.
- MRCPsych (desirable).
- Section 12(2) approval (desirable).
- AC status (desirable).
