We are excited to offer a rare opportunity to join the Enfys service as an Assistant Psychologist. The team supports families of children in foster care, residential care, and adopted children. This community-based post offers a fantastic opportunity to work alongside families in their homes, as well as linking with schools and other agencies involved in a child\’s care, in partnership with the Local Authority.
The post holder will have the opportunity to run groups, participate in research, work clinically in various settings, and receive supervision from a Clinical Psychologist in the Enfys team.
The post is part of the wider Child Psychology Service, which provides psychological services to children and families in Cardiff and Vale. The department maintains a good relationship with the South Wales Doctoral Programme in Clinical Psychology and offers core and elective placements.
The service is committed to supporting staff in their professional development and specialist interests.
Essential qualifications include at least an upper second-class honours degree or higher in Psychology, and eligibility for Graduate Basis for Chartership (GBC) with the British Psychological Society. Welsh language skills are desirable; applicants who speak Welsh and/or English are equally welcome. We especially encourage applicants who identify as minority ethnic / global majority.
The post involves contributing to assessment, intervention, and consultation services for children, young people, and their families regarding development, behaviour, and emotional wellbeing. Enfys is a DDP-informed team that draws on various psychological therapies, including systemic, ACT, and DBT. The role includes promoting service initiatives, enhancing multidisciplinary teamwork, developing links within the wider network, and contributing to research and audit projects.
Regular supervision, joint working, and training are key aspects of the service. Attendance at weekly team meetings, participation in reflective practice sessions, CPD sessions, and team activities are expected.
