This is a unique opportunity for an experienced ambulance professional to move beyond frontline delivery and help shape the future of urgent and emergency care across our communities.
Building strong relationships with the Ambulance Trust, operational leaders and system partners across the South West, you will play a pivotal role in the commissioning, development and improvement of ambulance services.
Drawing on your clinical and operational experience, you will help shape service models, influence strategic decisions and support the delivery of safe, high-quality care that meets the needs of local populations.
Working collaboratively with Integrated Care Systems and wider health and care partners, you will improve integration across urgent and emergency care pathways, drive service transformation and deliver better outcomes for patients.

Main duties of the job This role focuses on collaboration, partnership working and service improvement across the urgent and emergency care system.
Working closely with the Ambulance Trust and system partners, the postholder will support the commissioning, performance management and continuous improvement of ambulance services, while contributing to the delivery of the ICB's ambulance commissioning strategy Using ambulance service expertise and operational insight, they will identify opportunities for improvement, develop innovative solutions and support the delivery of safe, effective and high-quality care.
The role requires strong stakeholder engagement, influencing skills and the ability to coordinate programmes of work across organisational boundaries Key responsibilities include supporting commissioning plans, monitoring performance and quality, analysing data and contributing to improved care pathways.
Working collaboratively with ambulance services, NHS 111, acute, community and mental health partners, the postholder will strengthen integration, improve patient flow and deliver better outcomes Working within a team of teams approach, they will build effective relationships across organisations and professions, lead projects, provide specialist advice and support strategic decision-making.

- Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level qualification or significant experience of working at a similar level in specialist area
- Post-graduate degree in Management Studies or equivalent
- Qualified paramedic or equivalent experience of ambulance services
- Evidence of continued professional development
- Demonstrated experience of co-ordinating projects in complex and challenging environments
- Understanding of the public sector
- Demonstrated experience in a Healthcare environment
- Comprehensive knowledge of project principles, techniques and tools, such as Prince 2 Foundation and Microsoft Project, Significant experience of successfully operating in a politically sensitive environment
- Experience of creating and giving presentations to a varied group of internal and external stakeholders
- Experience of setting up and implementing internal processes and procedures
- Experience of managing a team without direct line management
- Experience of managing risks and reporting

UK Registration Under the Model ICB Blueprint and the 10 Year Health Plan, ICBs will adopt a more strategic commissioning role, focusing on population needs, reducing inequalities, and delivering the three shifts as defined in the 10 year health plan, all while operating within strict financial limits.
The new organisation will operate on a larger scale with a revised vision and purpose, managing a commissioning budget of around £8 billion.
