The main function of the post is the strategic oversight, leadership and development of all components of business development. The role will lead on the creation of innovative business growth, including expansion and diversification of activities. The role will report to the Deputy Principal and will be a part of the College Senior Leadership Team.
The role will have strategic and operational oversight, driving forward the growth and advancement of Cardiff and Vale College, through the realisation of financial targets. As the main strategic driver for Business Development, the role will focus on maximising income generation, funding utilisation and contribution in line with the strategy and values of the College.
Income generation will be focussed on commercial opportunities and increasing access and delivery of public funding. Developing and retaining a profitable operation is a key aspect of the role, this includes establishing the position of the College in key sectors and creating strategic opportunities to grow the business, in local, national and international markets.
Responsibilities
The role will be responsible for leading a variety of departments and activities, with a current income portfolio of circa £25million. This includes:

- Bids and Research
- Contract and Programme Delivery
- Catering and Retail
- International
- Work Based Learning and Training
The role will work closely with colleagues across the CAVC Group, to maximise opportunity and realise potential, with a view to delivering ambitious growth.
Person Specification We are seeking a highly motivated, strategic, and experienced professional to join our leadership team as the Vice Principal of Business Development. This senior role is pivotal in identifying and cultivating new business opportunities, advancing partnerships, and enhancing the College\'s presence both domestically and internationally.
They will have significant practical experience and understanding of the Post 16 sector (Wales, UK and internationally); UK/Wales industry skills requirements and Welsh Government skills funding and priorities.
