Cardiff and Vale College is looking for a practical, organised and enthusiastic Technician – Automotive to join our Engineering \& Automotive team. This is a hands‑on role supporting the effective delivery of practical automotive sessions, ensuring that workshops, tools, equipment and resources are prepared, maintained and ready for use. You’ll work closely with teaching staff to help provide a safe, well‑organised and engaging learning environment for our students.

What You'll Do

• You’ll support practical sessions across the Automotive provision, preparing materials, tools and equipment and helping to ensure our workshop facilities operate safely and effectively.
• You’ll assist with the inspection and maintenance of equipment, stock control and ordering, health and safety requirements, and the preparation of resources for teaching and learning.
• You’ll also work alongside teaching staff to support students during practical activities and contribute to the smooth day-to-day running of the department.

About You

• You’ll have a Level 2 qualification in a relevant subject alongside relevant industry experience, with a good understanding of current health and safety requirements.
• You’ll be confident using and maintaining automotive equipment, comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, and have strong communication and organisational skills.
• Most importantly, you’ll take pride in maintaining high standards and supporting students to get the best from their practical learning experience.
• The ability to speak Welsh and a full clean driving licence would be advantageous.
