Overview

Cardiff and Vale College are looking for a Student Life Officer to join our Learner Journey team. The post holder will be responsible for supporting the work of the Learner Experience area. It will focus on the achievement of the learner involvement strategy, as well as maximising the opportunities for learners to engage in student life activities across the college.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and achievement of the learner involvement strategy across all aspects of the College.
  • Facilitate effective communication between learners, staff and managers to assist in the creation of genuine partnership to enable the learners to shape planning and decision-making across college.
  • Support the development of an active Student Union which is democratically elected, and which contains all relevant offices which can support learners.
  • Support the work of the Sabbatical Officer and other student Union roles.
  • Ensure all full-time courses have a course representative and manage and support these representatives to meet their roles as set out in the learner involvement strategy.
  • Work with the Equality and Diversity Co-ordinator to promote learner voice and EDI across College, to meet the requirements of the Public Sector Equality Data.
  • Develop, implement and promote a comprehensive enrichment offer for all students to complement their study.
  • Maintain Learner Experience information on social media, the College app, the website, Moodle and display boards (and any other identified means).

Requirements

You will have experience of working in an FE setting or working with young people in an educational setting and using digital communication and learning tools. You will have strong interpersonal and presentation skills and a commitment to organising high quality learner events.

Whilst the ability to speak Welsh is not essential for the role, we would love to hear from candidates who are fluent and can engage with learners through the medium of Welsh.

Salary: £29,874 – £32,423 per annum. Contractual hours: 37. Basis: Full Time. Package: Generous Annual Leave, Health Scheme and alongside your salary an employer’s contribution of 16.30% (£4,869 – £5,284) is made as part of the Local Government Pension scheme.
