An exciting vacancy is available as a Heavy Vehicle Technician in the Automotive department at Cardiff and Vale College. This post will be based at the Dumballs Road 2 Campus in Cardiff.
Responsibilities include:
- To be actively involved in all timetabled practical sessions within the working hours of the contract providing support for staff with resources and equipment to enable these sessions to run effectively.
- To maintain procedures for safe, efficient and effective operation of the Faculty facilities.
- To assist lecturing staff in the preparation of materials and equipment for student activities.
- To ensure that adequate supplies of materials, equipment and tools etc. are available when and where required.
- To dismantle learners' work and salvage materials for future use.
- To keep a regular check on tools, equipment etc. and to assist lecturing staff in ensuring general security within the department.
- To assist in checking stock and keeping stock records updated on an annual basis.
- To carry out general routine inspection maintenance.
- To assist in ensuring a safe working environment in all areas designated. This duty includes portable appliance testing (PAT), COSHH regulations and any future regulations that the College may need to introduce together with associated recording procedures.
- To assist lecturing staff in the preparation of course teaching materials and in curriculum development and delivery as a team member.
- Assisting in developments of a general nature.
Welsh language skills are not essential but would be desirable for this role.
