As a Graduate Engineering Geologist, you’ll be involved in all aspects of a project from “cradle to grave”, gaining real practical experience of all stages of a project from the initial desk-based study, being on site completing tests and liaising with clients and subcontractors to the final interpretive report. You will be working within a supportive and collaborative team. Along the way, you’ll build exposure to a wide range of geological settings and ground hazards, contributing to a diverse portfolio of projects across the UK. This role offers a mixture of office and site-based work. Your designated office base will be Tiverton, with opportunities to work on sites across the UK.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same. You’ll join our expert team to:
  • Support intrusive investigations (e.g., drilling, sampling, in-situ testing)
  • Log soils and rocks to BS standards
  • Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams
  • Keep detailed site records, complete RAMS, and manage H&S documentation
  • Begin developing report writing and data interpretation skills
  • In time, take ownership of site activities, with strong support from experienced mentors
  • Maintain accurate site records, logs, and daily reports
  • Liaise with engineers, contractors, and clients on site
  • Ensure works are carried out in accordance with specifications, standards, and method statements
  • Assist with data processing and report preparation as required

Who We’re Looking For

  • Enthusiastic engineering technicians who:
  • Have a relevant degree in geology, engineering or similar
  • Thrive on working outdoors, independently and in teams
  • Knowledge and understanding of safe working and SHEQ Culture
  • Have a full UK driving licence and are happy to travel/stay away as needed
  • Experience of indirect exposure to site works, decision making, risk assessment, basic design and implementation of projects

You may also have:

  • CSCS Card, First Aid, EUSR HSG47 CAT 1 & 2
  • Aware of environmental legislation or industry H&S best practices
